This is a fascinating article published in the Telegraph in 2014 about John Yudkin, a British physiologist and nutritionist and the founding Professor of the Department of Nutrition at Queen Elizabeth College, London. In the early 70’s, when the food industry was blaming fat for the increase in heart disease and promoting the low-fat diet, he argued that his research pointed to sugar as the more probably cause. He published his findings in the book Pure, White and Deadly in 1972.
